Eco Baltia vide
challenge

logo ebv.png

Eco Baltia vide is the largest Baltic environmental sector company of environmental management and waste recycling. The company provides the widest range of environmental management services – the collection of household and sorted waste, management of used packaging, construction waste and bulky waste management, cleaning of premises and territories, and different seasonal services.

 Value-added end-products from RDF & SRF

Environmental and waste management is an industry of fast-growing importance worldwide. Technological advancements, new logistical approaches, and societal awareness contribute to more efficient and circular recycling practices. As a part of the leading Baltic waste management group, Ecobaltia Vide strives to introduce new opportunities for recycling different waste materials and improve the efficiency of the previously used recycling approaches. One segment of the waste that has an uncovered potential in terms of recycling is RDF (refuse-derived fuels)/ SRF (solid recovered fuels).

Eco Baltia vide is looking for technology partners for turning RDF/ SRF into value-added end-products, thus contributing to the circularity of the initial raw material use. All possible industrial applications of the use of RDF/ SRF can be considered, provided they are adding value compared to the current approach of incineration of this waste type.

Sadales Tikls
challenge

Sadales_tīkls_logo.png

JSC Sadales Tikls (ST) is the leading distribution system operator (DSO) in the Baltics. Sadales Tkls is part of Latvenergo Group, which is the largest provider of power supply services in the Baltics. Sadales Tikls provides electricity distribution services to more than 800,000 customers, the total length of the distribution network amounts to more than 90,000 kilometres, and it covers 99% of the country’s area. They take care of the maintenance and development of the electrical network, provision of electricity connections, accounting of power consumption data, and related services.

Fail-safe mechanism for green electricity generation export limiting scheme

Due to the fast growth of a distributed generation, Sadales Tikls is reaching the hosting capacity limit in many service areas beyond which any export to the grid can result in overvoltages and overloading of network assets. While new generators can still be connected, Sadales Tikls has introduced a limit to active power export to prevent adverse risks on network assets and other customers (widely known as the export limiting scheme - ELS).

While the customer is responsible for installing a hardware solution (e.g. smart inverter) that limits the feed-in power within the permitted power capacity, Sadales Tikls is seeking a fail-safe mechanism to prevent the breach of export limits in case the customer's solution fails.
